RENT Review

Alright,

As you probably know from the older post on RENT, I went to see RENT, live and on stage in Rochester.

Well, here's my take on it:

It was amazing!!!!!!

The guys who played Roger and Mark were the same guys from the Broadway production and the movie!!!! I was practicality freakin' out when I found out! Lol!

Anyway...I was so happy to be there! The play was wayyy better than even I dreamed! Everyone in the play, if any of you are reading this (fat chance but still, one can hope/dream)...

YOU GUYS ROCKED!!!!
AND IF I COULD GO AGAIN AND AGAIN,
I TOTALLY FREAKIN' WOULD!!!!!! :)

So here's the deal of what I did that day:

1) Woke up and smiled because "Today's the big day!"

2) Did all my chores as fast (and thoroughly!) as I could
3) Got dressed (about 8 times! That's gotta be the first time I've EVER done that!!)
4) Ate an apple (you really didn't need to know that but whatever... :P)
5) Went outside at 4:20 because my pick up was at 4:30
6) Got picked up by my ride, a green minivan that held...three people I knew and two I didn't!
People I knew: Mrs. Bauder (I babysit her kids and she invited me to come with them. Plus, not only was she was giving me a free ticket but also because I had babysat for her the day before she was going to pay for my dinner! She hadn't payed me the night before because she had forgotten to go to the bank but I told her that it was OK and that, instead of paying me in cash, could she pay for dinner instead? Because that's what i was going to use the babysitting money for anyway! lol! She agreed.), Mr. Eastman, and a guy named Wesley who I knew slightly. (I later found out that he knew me from work and that he is going out with my best friend, Mollie who had just told me about him only the day before!
Go figure! Lol!)
People I didn't know: Two guys: Elrick and Dwayne. They were both very cool guys.
7) Trip to Rochester. Nobody really talked. It was kinda like a tomb....
8) We arrived at T.G.I. Fridays. We were going to have dinner before the show.
9) I tried to figure out where to sit. I saw a girl named Amanda who I knew from the Beauty and the Beast play over the summer. I waved and was still unsure where to sit when Wesley invited me to sit with him and his friends. Turned out his friends were at the same table as Amanda was sitting! So I knew at least two people! Met everyone around the table.
One side: Wesley and me
Other side: Amanda (across from me), a girl named Amber and another girl named...Britney, I believe it was. I could be wrong.... She didn't really talk much...
We all talked and got to know each other. I found out that Amber knew Mollie too!!! She apparently met Mollie the same place Wesley did! Small world! They all went to the same school and were laughing about some teachers and asked me if I hated any of my teachers. I grinned and told them that if I hated my teacher, I'd be a dead woman! I explained that I was home schooled and that I was graduating this year, blah blah blah. We all ate, and then we went into our separate cars, promising to sit next to each other when we got there.
10) Car ride to the theater. there was much more talking this time! I guess we all just needed some food! While we were all talking we found out that we all like similar things!
Again, go figure! Lol!
11) Arrived at theatre. Found some more friends there. My good friend Emily was there! She's the one who got me crazy about RENT and so I was thrilled to see her!
Her family brought her to the show as a surprise because they knew she loved it so much!
How nice is that?! I wish my family would do that! Lol!
12) Got to our seats. I sat to the very end (aisle side to my right) and ended up next to Amber! She was sitting next to Wesley and myself so we talked for a while before the lights dimmed a bit and the show began! One thing that i noticed right away was that the pit band was ON STAGE!! they weren't in front of it! They were on stage, with the actors!
I thought "Now that's cool! That's they way it show go!" but then I remembered that some shows had many more players in the pit, so they couldn't fit them all on stage.
But it's a great concept! Very original and very very cool!
13) Intermission. Went out to hang in the lobby (How cool is that?! How many times in life do you get to say "Oh. I just hung out in the lobby?" like it happens all the time?!). Met up with Wesley, Amber, and Emily. Talked about how freakin' amazing the show was going!
We all loved it and were totally being major geeks about it!
Singing in the lobby is frowned upon, btw...lol!
Lights blinked to say "Hey! Get back in here!" The show was back on!
14) The rest of the show. Totally cried like the major dork(geek/nerd/whatever!) I am! I was so happy that I saw it yet sad that it was over. Plus the whole ending was happy/sad.
(No spoilers will be posted here! :P Go see it and you'll know!!!) Chilled in the seats for a while while "Mark" talked about how the show has been going, who the writer was, etc. Then he told u that there was a fund raiser going on. You could win a signed poster, a coffee table book all about RENT (hint, hint. A little something something for Christmas there people! *cough, cough* Just an note....*wink*) and a back stage pass for you and everyone in your group to hang with the cast and director!!!! Well, our group was freaking out and we were all, "Who's got money?!", "I wonder if they take checks!?", and "Man! If only...".
They started bidding at $200. It quickly rose. It stopped at $800. "Mark" said, "Going once...going twice...last chance...", when suddenly someone yelled, "$1,000!" Everyone gasped and applauded! "Mark" said, "Wow! Thank you! OK, going once...going twice...last chance..... Sold! Thank you very much sir!!!" Everyone freaked out and applauded! One thousand dollars for a charity for people with AIDS! That was just amazing! I was so happy even though I didn't do anything to help. I was just glad that there was that much money for those people in need.
15) Trip home. Not as quiet as the first but not as crazy as the second. Got people's email and phone numbers and promised to write/call.
All in all, it was one heck of a night and I'll (hopefully!) never forget it!
